Spring craft fair in Britannia-Youngstown

Spring craft fair in Britannia-Youngstown

Vendors and craft makers alike came out to sell their wares in Britannia-Youngstown Saturday.

Everything from Avon to homemade jewlery was on sale at the community hall on April 9.

Organizer Debbie Yochim said she wanted to have a show and sale to help build the Britannia-Youngstown community.

“We wanted people in our community to get involved and let people know there are things going on here,” she said.

Yochim said she started organizing the event in January. She posted ads on Kijiji and in the Edmonton Examiner looking for vendors. When she had enough people willing to set up tables, she started advertising in the community.

Yochim said one of the reasons she wanted a craft fair was for the community members to interact with each other.

“You can do better networking with a craft fair,” she said.

Not only can vendors meet new clients, but vendors can meet other people who are equally passionate about their products, she said.

Tammy Ayer, who had a table for Victorian Epicur, said she was very proud of all the women who were selling things at the fair.

“I think it’s awesome that women are in business for themselves,” Ayer said. “It’s really empowering.”

Yochim said she hopes to host another Show and Sale in November, just in time for Christmas.
